Although much smaller and less well-known than other Italian regions, Basilicata has plenty to offer its visitors. Mountains, lakes and forests, ancient towns, as well as beaches with turquoise waters are waiting to be discovered.

The most famous town is Matera, the "stone city", European Capital of Culture in 2019.
