Calabria is the region in southern Italy that forms the "toe" of the peninsula's "boot". It is separated from Sicily by the Strait of Messina. The capital of Calabria is Catanzaro, and the main airports in the area are located near the cities of Lamezia Terme and Reggio Calabria.

Even though it is among the less wealthy Italian regions, Calabria boasts beautiful beaches and many summer resorts, both on the Ionian Sea and the Tyrrhenian Sea - including the famous Tropea. Mountains are also present, with the Aspromonte National Park being the most visited in the area. Tourist attractions include the Aragonese castles of Le Castella, Castrovillari, and Reggio Calabria, as well as Gerace and Scilla, some of the most beautiful medieval villages in Calabria.
