Piedmont
The Piedmont Region (Piemonte in Italian) is situated in the northwestern part of Italy. Its name comes from the expression piede dei monti ("foot of the mountains"), closely tied to its geographical setting: Piedmont is surrounded on three sides by the Alps.
Piedmont means many things: Turin and the royal residences of the House of Savoy, beautiful lakes, hills covered with vineyards, mountains, ski resorts, famous products such as Alba truffles and gianduja chocolate, or prestigious wines like Asti sparkling wines and the red wines Barolo and Barbaresco.
The Piedmont area is therefore history, art, culture, places to visit, legends and traditions still alive in cities and monasteries, castles and towers, aromas and flavors.
