How to Get to San Marino from Rimini?

The distance between Rimini and San Marino is only 20 km, so you can easily do a day trip. Transportation can be done by shuttle bus or rental car. There is no train from Rimini to San Marino.

1. Shuttle Bus

The buses connecting Rimini to Città di San Marino (the capital of the Republic of San Marino) are operated by Fratelli Benedettini and Bonelli Bus. These are shuttle buses that depart from near the train station, at Piazzale Cesare Battisti (in front of Hotel Napoleon).

The price of a one-way ticket from San Marino to Rimini is €7. Children with height under 1 meter travel for free. If two children under 1 meter travel together, only one ticket is required. The ticket includes transport for one piece of luggage up to 20 kg, with total dimensions (length + width + height) not exceeding 140 cm. Additional luggage requires an extra fee.

We recommend, especially during the high season, that you book shuttle bus tickets in advance through the companies' websites.

The bus journey from Rimini to San Marino takes approximately 50 minutes. The stop in Città di San Marino is at the designated coach parking area, from where you can walk or take an elevator up to the old town.

2. Rent a Car

If you rent a car, you can get from Rimini to Città di San Marino in about 35 minutes by taking the Strada Statale 72.

Rent a Car Rimini

You can park your car in one of the designated parking areas (some are paid, others are free). If you'd like to take the cable car (which offers a beautiful panorama and is one of the tourist attractions in San Marino), park your car in Borgo Maggiore, in the parking next to the cable car (P11). Borgo Maggiore is one of the nine administrative divisions, called castelli, that make up the Republic of San Marino.

If that parking lot is full (which often happens during the tourist season), you can try parking at P13, which is free and located about a 5-minute walk from the cable car.
