Vicenza
Vicenza is a small city in the Veneto region, renowned for the buildings designed by architect Andrea Palladio in the 16th century. Among its tourist attractions are the Olympic Theater (the oldest indoor theater in Europe still in operation) and the elegant Piazza dei Signori, dominated by the Palladian Basilica.
The surroundings are dotted with historic villas, the most famous being Villa Valmarana ai Nani and Villa Capra Valmarana (La Rotonda), whose style has often been copied by English and American architects.
