The Ferrari legend was born in the Emilia Romagna region. There are two Ferrari museums there, both located near Bologna: the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena and the Ferrari Museum in Maranello.

The Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena

The Enzo Ferrari Museum (MEF) was inaugurated in 2012, built around the house where Enzo Ferrari, the founder of the famous Scuderia Ferrari, was born and worked.

The modern building designed to house the museum is, not by chance, painted yellow: yellow is both the color of the Ferrari logo (the shield with a prancing horse) and the historic color of the city of Modena.

The museum covers more than 3,000 square meters and includes, besides the exhibition area, an event hall, a shop, and a café.

Ferrari Museum in Maranello

The Ferrari Museum (Museo Ferrari) in Maranello (formerly Galleria Ferrari) is located 300 meters from the Ferrari Factory. Enzo Ferrari himself was involved in its planning, but he did not live to see it become a reality. The museum was inaugurated in 1990, two years after his death, on the very day the founder would have turned 92. A new wing was added in 2004.

The museum, covering around 2,500 square meters, centers on the history of these legendary cars. In addition to the car models, the museum features photographs, medals, trophies, and other objects related to racing cars, as well as a souvenir shop.

Visiting Hours

The Ferrari Museum in Maranello operates according to the following schedule:

From April to October, the last entry is at 6:15 PM, and from November to March, the last entry is at 5:15 PM.

The museum is closed on December 25 and January 1.

Ferrari Factory

Next to the museum in Maranello, you can also visit the Ferrari Factory and the Fiorano track with a 45-minute panoramic tour by shuttle bus (you do not get off the bus during the tour).

The price of a ticket for this panoramic tour is 25 EUR per person, which means a total of 52 EUR (or 57 EUR during the months of June to August) for the entrance ticket to the Ferrari Museum in Maranello and the bus tour of the circuit and factory.

How to Get from Bologna to Maranello?

There is no direct train or bus from Bologna to Maranello. The closest train station is in Modena. To get from Bologna to Maranello by public transport, you have two options:

  1. Take the train or bus to Modena (the train is faster) and from there see below (How to Get from Modena to Maranello).
  2. Take the bus from Bologna Centrale station to Vignola (which is 15 km from Maranello, and the journey takes about 1 hour). From the Vignola bus station (Via Montanara), you then need to take bus no. 640 operated by SETA towards Maranello, in the direction of Sassuolo (the journey lasts about 20 minutes).

How to Get from Modena to Maranello

By Shuttle Bus

The easiest and the most direct option is to take a shuttle bus from the Modena train station. It makes two stops: first at the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena and then at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello.

The shuttle bus costs 12 EUR per person for a round trip and runs two trips per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

By Bus

If you come by train from Bologna, you will need to get off at Modena station and then take one of the buses operated by SETA to Autostazione Modena, from where buses depart to Maranello.

If you are already in Modena, go directly to Autostazione Modena. From there, you can take one of the following buses to Maranello (the journey lasts 25–40 minutes):

The bus station in Maranello is located on Via Grizzaga. The closest stop to the Ferrari Museum is Via Abetone Inferiore.

By Train

There is also a train and bus option, as follows: train from Modena to Sassuolo, and from Sassuolo take bus 640 towards Vignola, to Maranello, which is about 9 kilometers away.
