How to Get from Pisa Airport to the City Centre?
Pisa Airport is named after the scientist Galileo Galilei and is located just 1 km away from the train station and 3 km from the city centre, in the San Giusto area. Transportation from the airport to Pisa Central Station (Stazione Centrale) is very simple and fast, via an automated shuttle train called the Pisa Mover. Additionally, you have the options of renting a car, taking a taxi, or booking a private transfer.
Pisa Mover
Pisa Mover is an automated shuttle train (people mover), driverless, similar to the one used for transport in Venice or the one used to get from Bologna Airport to the city center.
The Pisa Mover station is located immediately as you exit the airport, to the left, about 40 meters away. It is clearly marked with directional arrows.

The shuttle trains run every day between 6:00 AM and 12:00 AM (from June 1st to September 30th, they operate until 1:00 AM) between the airport and Pisa Central Station (Stazione Centrale). The trains arrive at intervals ranging from 5 to 15 minutes and are more frequent between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
The travel time between the airport and the station is only 5 minutes. The train makes one intermediate stop at the San Giusto/Aurelia parking area.

The price of a single trip is €6.5. The ticket is valid for a single use within 30 days of the date of issue (it loses its validity once validated). One child under 1 meter in height can travel for free when accompanied by a paying adult. Children over 1 meter in height must pay the full fare.
You can buy Pisa Mover tickets online (the specific time selected does not matter; the ticket is valid for 30 days), from ticket machines at the airport, the train station, and the parking area, or at the ticket counter in the Aurelia parking area (during operating hours). If you purchase tickets from Trenitalia machines, the 30-day validity period does not apply.
To enter the Pisa Mover station, you will need to scan the QR code by placing your phone screen-side up (if you booked online) or by scanning the QR code on your physical ticket.

Car Rental from Pisa Airport
If you are on a city break in Pisa and only have a few days, renting a car doesn't make much sense. You can easily reach nearby tourist attractions using public transportation. However, if you are planning a longer trip through Tuscany and want to visit various villages or small towns, traveling by car is recommended (you might also find the article with tips for renting a car in Tuscany useful).
The parking area for rental cars is located approximately 500m from Pisa Airport. You can get there either on foot (the path is marked with a red line, and the walk takes about 7-8 minutes) or via a free airport shuttle, which runs every 20 minutes to the rental area.

Taxi
Another option is to take a taxi from the airport. Taxi fares are fixed and regulated by the Pisa City Council. The cost of a trip from Pisa Airport to the Central Station is €10.6.
Private Transfer
Those who prefer more comfort can book a private transfer to take them from Pisa Airport directly to their hotel. This option will prove particularly useful if the hotel is located further from the station or if the flight's landing time does not fall within the operating hours of the Pisa Mover.
