Linate Milano Airport

Linate Airport (LIN) is the third airport serving the city of Milan and the Lombardy region, after Malpensa Airport and Orio al Serio Bergamo Airport. At the same time, it is one of the busiest airports in Italy.

Built in the 1930s, the airport has been renovated multiple times. Its official name is Enrico Forlanini Airport, after an aviation pioneer born in Milan.

Linate Airport has a single terminal.

How Far is Milan Linate Airport from City Centre?

Linate Airport is situated in the eastern part of the city, making it the closest of the three airports in Milan.

The distance between Linate Airport and Milan (Central Station) is only 7 km.

Linate Airport – Milan Transportation

Transport services from Linate Airport to the city of Milan are provided by shuttle bus, metro, and taxi. There is also the option to rent a car or book a private transfer.

1. Shuttle Bus

Starfly Shuttle Bus/ Airport Bus Express

The company Autostradale provides Linate-Milan transfer services with the Starfly shuttle bus (Airport Bus Express). The coaches first stop at Milan Lambrate Station and then at Milan Central Station (Piazza Luigi di Savoia no. 1).

The buses depart from platform no. 1 in front of the Arrivals terminal. The transfer from Linate to Milan Central Station takes approximately 25 minutes.

The ticket price is €5 one way if purchased online, or €7 one way if bought at the airport, at Central Station, or directly from the driver.

Online tickets are valid for all trips on the selected day. To keep your priority boarding, you should arrive 20 minutes before departure.

Air Pullman Shuttle Bus

The company Air Pullman offers the Linate Shuttle transfer service, which connects Linate Airport to Milan Central Station.

The ticket price is €7 one way or €12 for a round trip. Children under 12 years old pay €3 one way.

The journey from Linate Airport to Milan Central Station takes approximately 25 minutes.

2. Metro

At the end of 2022, the M4 metro line was launched, connecting Linate Airport to the San Babila station, located near the Duomo in Milan.

The M4 metro operates from Monday to Sunday, between 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM, with the following stations: Linate Airport - Repetti - Stazione Forlanini - Argonne - Susa - Dateo - Tricolore - San Babila.

The ticket price is €2.2 (ticket for zones Mi1-Mi3 - see also the article about public transport in Milan). The ticket can be purchased from vending machines located in front of the Arrivals terminal exit, through the ATM app, or at the metro entrance using a contactless card.

The ticket is valid for 90 minutes from validation, for use on buses, trolleybuses, metro, trams, and suburban trains.

3. Taxi

The taxi stand is located at gate 5 of the Arrivals terminal at Linate Airport.

Taxi fares have a fixed rate set by local authorities only for the Fiera Milano (Rho) area: €68 one way. For taxi rides from Linate to the city center of Milan, the rates apply according to the city's current fares (with a minimum charge, depending on the taxi company).

4. Car Rental

If you plan to take trips outside the city of Milan, it may be convenient to rent a car.

5. Private Transfer

There is also the option - more expensive, but more convenient - of a private transfer from Linate Airport directly to your hotel in Milan.
