Many airlines, especially low-cost carriers, operate flights to Milan, landing at Orio al Serio Airport, (BGY), located 4 km from Bergamo, in the Lombardy region. This is one of the largest airports in Italy, and its official name is Il Caravaggio International Airport, named after the famous painter who spent his childhood in this area.

Transportation from Bergamo Airport to the center of Milan (Milano Centrale station) can be done by shuttle bus, a combination of bus and train, or taxi. There is also the option of car rental or booking a private transfer.

Several companies offer direct transportation services with shuttle buses between Orio al Serio Airport and Milan Centrale Station.

The bus stop is located right in front of the Arrivals terminal, and tickets can be purchased online or directly at the airport (in some cases, online prices are lower).

Online tickets are valid for all of the respective company's departures on that day.  It is recommended to arrive at the bus 15-20 minutes before departure.

Orioshuttle buses connect Bergamo Airport with Milano Centrale Station, as well as Fiera Rho and Malpensa Airport.

2. Bus and Train

Another transport option is to take a bus from the airport to the Bergamo train station and then a train to Milan.

The local Airport Bus operated by ATB (Azienda Trasporti Bergamo) connects Orio al Serio Airport with the Bergamo train station. The ticket price is €4, and the travel time from the airport to the train station is 15 minutes.

From Bergamo train station, you will then need to take a train to Milano Centrale. There are multiple trains per day (you can check the schedule on Trenitalia.com). The train journey takes between 50 minutes and 1 hour 20 minutes, with ticket prices starting at €6.1.

3. Taxi

In front of the arrivals area (to the left as you exit), you will also find the taxi rack. The fare for a trip is fixed, set by local authorities, and a ride from Bergamo Airport to Milan will cost €128.

4. Car Rental

There is also the option of renting a car. This alternative is convenient if you plan to visit tourist attractions in the surroundings of Milan or head to the Aosta Valley resorts or the Dolomites.

Most car rental company counters are located at Bergamo airport, after you exit the control and baggage area, to the left. After completing the rental formalities, you will need to take a free shuttle bus from platform 8 (the last one), which will take you to the P3 parking lot, designated for rental cars.
