Ski Resorts in Aosta Valley
Although it is a small region, Aosta Valley comprises around 20 ski resorts, some of which are among the most famous in Europe.
The ski slopes in Aosta Valley total over 800km and are served by approximately 180 lift facilities. In addition, there are 7 snowparks, cross-country skiing trails, and extensive off-piste skiing routes.
Breuil-Cervinia
Breuil-Cervinia is the most famous ski resort in the Aosta Valley, while also being the resort located at the highest altitude (around 2,000 m). The maximum height from which you can ski is approximately 3,900 m, and it is even possible to ski on the slopes in the upper area during the summer.
The ski area is called Cervino Ski Paradise and spans slopes in both Italy and Switzerland. In total, there are over 160 runs (44 in Cervinia alone), measuring 360 km.
In addition to Breuil-Cervinia, the Cervino Ski Paradise domain includes the slopes of the resorts of Valtournenche, Chamois, Torgnon, and Zermatt, the latter being in Switzerland.

Courmayeur
Courmayeur, at the foot of the Mont Blanc massif, is one of the oldest and most well-known ski resorts in the Aosta Valley.
The ski area consists of 33 runs, totaling approximately 100 km in length, and extends across two slopes: Chécrouit and Val Vény.
It is also home to the Skyway cable car, which takes you to an altitude of 3,466 m on the Mont Blanc massif.
Just a few kilometers away is the Mont Blanc Tunnel, through which you can cross into Chamonix, France.

La Thuile
The ski area in La Thuile is called Espace San Bernardo and extends across slopes in both Italy and France (the resort of La Rosière). The maximum altitude from which you can ski is approximately 2,800 m, located on the French side.
There are a total of 82 runs (43 in La Thuile alone), with a length of 152 km. Among them is the Berthod run (No. 3), which has a 73% gradient and is considered one of the most difficult in Italy.
Very close to La Thuile is the village of Pré-Saint-Didier, famous for its thermal baths.

Pila
Pila resort is very easily accessible, being located near the city of Aosta, from where it can be reached by a gondola that passes right over the A5 motorway.
The slopes, with a length of 70 km, run between 2,750 m (Couis 1) and 1,540 m (Plan Praz).

Champoluc
Located at the foot of the Monte Rosa massif (the second highest in the Alps), Champoluc is the ski resort in the Aosta Valley located closest to the city of Milan.
The ski area is called Monterosa Ski and covers 300 km of runs, extending across four valleys divided between the Aosta Valley and Piedmont regions. The maximum altitude from which you can ski is approximately 3,275 m.
In addition to Champoluc (located in Valle d'Ayas), the ski area includes the resorts of Frachey (in Valle d'Ayas), Staffal and Gressoney-La Trinitè (in Valle di Gressoney), and Alagna and Alpe di Mera (the latter in Valsesia, in Piedmont).
Smaller ski areas include Antagnod, Brusson-Estoul, and Gressoney-Saint-Jean, as well as Champorcher (located in the Mont Avic Natural Park).
Other Ski Resorts in the Aosta Valley
Small villages, more suitable for families with children, include: Cogne (at the entrance to the Parco del Gran Paradiso, more highly regarded for cross-country skiing), Crévacol, Rhêmes-Notre-Dame, La Magdeleine, Ollomont, Valgrisenche, or Col de Joux.
