How to Get to Aosta Valley?
The most convenient way to get to Aosta Valley is to fly into one of the nearby airports and rent a car from there. Keep in mind that the A5 motorway, which crosses the Aosta Valley and connects Turin to the Mont Blanc Tunnel, is one of the most expensive in Italy. You can check the total toll costs based on your departure point on the Autostrade.it website. Alternatively, you can use the national roads that run alongside the motorway (such as the SS26). The major disadvantage is that these pass through many villages with strict speed limits, which will significantly increase your travel time.
An alternative (more convenient when traveling in a group) is to book a private transfer.
Those who prefer to use public transport can choose the train or bus - a cheaper but more complicated option, with the downside that they do not reach all resorts or may require multiple transfers. Don't forget to validate your train or bus tickets and, when taking the bus, remember to press the "Stop" button before your desired station.
There is an airport within the region - Corrado Gex Airport in the city of Aosta - but it is rarely used. However, the Aosta Valley is located quite close to some of Northern Italy's major hubs, such as Turin Airport or the airports in Milan.
The airports closest to the city of Aosta are:
- Turin Airport (115 km)
- Milan Malpensa Airport (180 km)
- Milan Linate Airport (200 km)
- Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport (225 km)
