Leonardo da Vinci Airport is located further away than Ciampino Airport. It is situated southwest of Rome, in the town of Fiumicino, on the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Fiumicino Airport to Rome Transport Options
Transport services from Fiumicino Airport to central Rome (Termini station) are provided by shuttle buses, trains, local buses, or taxis. Tickets can be purchased online (usually at lower prices) or directly at the airport. Private transfers and car rentals are also available.
1. Shuttle Bus
There are several companies that offer shuttle bus transport services from Fiumicino Airport to Termini Station.
Tickets purchased online are valid for all of that company's trips on that specific day. It is recommended to arrive at the bus 15-20 minutes before departure.
Terravision Shuttle Bus
Terravision buses provide shuttle transfer services from Fiumicino Airport to Termini Station (Stazione Termini) in Rome. The journey takes about one hour.
The Terravision bus stop is located next to Terminal 3 of the airport, at Platform 18. In Rome, they stop at Termini Station, on Via Giolitti no. 32-34-36-38.

Rome Airport Bus
The Rome Airport Bus, operated by Schiaffini, departs from Terminal 3, Platform 15, and stops in Rome at Termini Station, on Via Giovanni Giolitti.
Ticket prices for the Fiumicino Airport-Termini Station route are:

SIT Bus Shuttle
SIT Bus Shuttle (Società Italiana Trasporti) buses also depart from Terminal 3, Platform 16. They provide transport from Fiumicino airport to the Vatican area and then proceed to Termini station, making stops at Circonvallazione Aurelia no. 19, Via Crescenzio no. 19 (Vatican), and Via Marsala no. 25 (Termini Station, in front of the Hotel Royal Santina).
The journey takes about one hour.

T.A.M. Bus
TAM buses depart from Terminal 3, Platform 13. They stop in the center of Fiumicino town, and at Roma Ostiense Station (Piazza XII Ottobre 1492) before arriving at Roma Termini (Via Giolitti 34).
Ticket prices are as follows:
- Adults: €7/ one way or €12/ round trip (for a fixed time slot), or €8/ one way or €13/ round trip ("flex" ticket valid for any departure on that day)
- Children under 5: Free

2. Train
Important Note! Tickets purchased from Trenitalia vending machines must be validated at the special validation machines BEFORE boarding the train; otherwise, you are subject to a fine! Tickets purchased online contain a QR code and do not need to be validated.
Leonardo Express Train
Right inside Fiumicino Airport, there is a train station where you can catch the Leonardo Express, operated by Trenitalia. This train is the fastest way to travel from Fiumicino to Termini Station, reaching the city in just 32 minutes without any intermediate stops.
The train operates:
- from Fiumicino Airport: between 5:38 AM and 11:27 PM
- from Roma Termini station: between 4:50 AM and 11:05 PM
Ticket prices for the Leonardo Express are:
- Adults: €14
- Children 4-11 years: One child travels free for every paying adult.
- Children under 4: Free

From the same station inside Fiumicino Airport, you can also take a regional train to Rome. However, it does not go directly to Termini. Instead, it travels toward Trastevere, Ostiense, Tuscolana, and Tiburtina, where you will need to transfer to another train to reach Termini. The journey takes about 50 minutes, and the total ticket price is €8.
3. Local Buses
Cotral buses depart from Terminal 1 and connect Fiumicino Airport with the Termini and Tiburtina stations in Rome. A single-trip ticket purchased online costs €5.
4. Taxi
Taxi fares from Fiumicino Airport to the center of Rome are fixed and established by the City Council. Taxi stands are located at the terminal exits.
The price for a trip (to any destination within the Aurelian Walls) is €55, and the duration is approximately 50 minutes. Warning! Always choose an official taxi that has Roma Capitale written on the side and a license number on the door.
