Venice Access Fee 2026: Dates, Prices, and Info
The booking system and tourist entry fee for Venice, introduced in 2024 as a pilot program, will continue in the year 2026. This access fee applies to day-trippers (those who do not have overnight accommodation in Venice), on specific days and during designated hours. On these dates, all tourists present in historic Venice must carry a QR code, which is obtained by registering on the CDA website (Contributo di accesso a Venezia). Those staying overnight in Venice or in areas belonging to the Municipality of Venice (such as Mestre or Marghera) will receive this code free of charge.
Venice is a city with a delicate balance, and the purpose of this entry fee is to protect it and control the tourist flow, so that it remains the wonderful place we love.
The Venice access fee is different from the local city tax (tassa di soggiorno); the latter is a mandatory payment for overnight guests, usually settled directly at the reception desk. City tax rates are established by law and vary depending on the category of the accommodation and the tourist season (see also the article with travel tips for Venice).
How Much is the Venice Entry Fee?
For the year 2026, the Venice entry fee will be:
- €5 per person/ day for those who pay by the fourth day before arrival.
- €10 per person/ day for those who pay it within the last three days before the day of arrival.
Please note! The Venice entry fee applies only during specific periods and under certain circumstances.
Where Does the Access Fee Apply?
The tourist fee must be paid by those entering historic Venice (except for exempted persons).
The fee DOES NOT apply in the following cases:
- Those transiting through Ponte della Libertà, Isola Nova del Tronchetto, Stazione Marittima (the Maritime Station), Piazzale Roma, Santa Lucia Railway Station, and the area directly connecting Piazzale Roma to the San Basilio ferry station, without entering the old city.
- The minor islands (Murano, Burano, Torcello, Lido di Venezia, Pellestrina, Mazzorbo, Mazzorbetto, Sant’Erasmo, Vignole, Sant’Andrea, La Certosa, San Servolo, San Clemente, Poveglia, Sacca Sessola). However, the fee WILL APPLY to the closest islands of Venice, such as Giudecca, San Giorgio, and San Michele.
On Which Dates Does the Venice Entry Fee Apply in 2026?
The Venice entry fee applies to the following 60 days in 2026 (during the hours of 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM):
- April: April 3-6, 10-12, 17-19, 24-30

Exemptions from the Venice Access Fee
The following categories of tourists are exempt from paying the Venice entry fee:
- Children under 14 years old (they do not need to pay or register).
- Holders of the European Disability Card and their companions (they do not need to pay or register).
- Overnight guests staying in tourist accommodations within the Municipality of Venice (Comune di Venezia) that collect the city tax. (Note: While exempt from the fee, these guests must still register to obtain their free QR code).
- Individuals in transit moving exclusively through the areas of Ponte della Libertà, Piazzale Roma, Santa Lucia Station, the direct connection zone to Piazzale Roma, Stazione Marittima, Stazione di San Basilio, and Isola Nova del Tronchetto. (Note: Registration is required to prove you are only in these transit zones).
How to Obtain the Venice Access QR Code?
If you are in Venice during the dates and hours when the entry fee applies, you must have the QR code with you. If, during an inspection, you are unable to present it, you are liable for fines ranging from €25 to €150 (plus the payment of double the entry fee).
Those who have accommodation in Venice or the localities belonging to the Comune di Venezia (Municipality of Venice) are exempt from paying the access fee, but they must register here.
You will be asked for the start and end dates of your stay, your date and place of birth, email address, home address, and the name and address of the accommodation where you will be staying. For those accompanying you, you will only need to add their name, date, and place of birth. Afterward, you will add your phone number, and you will be able to obtain the QR code for the duration of your stay in Venice.
If you do not have accommodation in Venice or the localities within the same administrative area, you will need to register and pay the access fee. You will select the date of your visit, the number of people, the number of children under 14 (who are free of charge), your name, email address, and phone number. You will then be directed to pay the fee by card and will receive your QR code. You can cancel this reservation and receive a refund up until the day before your scheduled visit.
