Venice Pass - What Is included in Venezia Unica City Pass?
The Venezia Unica City Pass is the official tourist pass of Venice. It is a digital tourist card sold by the Venice Tourist Office. The card comes in two options: the Venezia City Pass and the San Marco City Pass, both providing admission to various tourist attractions in Venice, as well as options for public transport passes.
What You Need to Know
To decide if you need a tourist card in Venice and to successfully use it if you choose to buy one, it is important to be aware of the following aspects:
- Neither of the cards issued by Venezia Unica includes access to St. Mark's Basilica or the St. Mark's Campanile (Bell Tower). Although you will see references to the Musei di Piazza San Marco ("Museums of St. Mark's Square"), know that these are the Doge's Palace and the complex of the Correr Museum, Archaeological Museum, and Marciana Library.
- Even though it is located in Piazza San Marco, the Clock Tower is not included in the passes.
- The card includes one entry to each listed attraction.
- The date you select is the date you must present yourself for the visit to the Doge's Palace. Go directly to the dedicated line for visitors who already have pre-purchased tickets.
- Even though the tickets for the Doge's Palace are skip-the-line, you may still have to wait in line to pass through security control.
- Before purchasing a card, make sure to check the operating hours of the attractions during the period you plan to visit them (for example, some are closed on Mondays). The schedule for the Museums of St. Mark's Square can be found on the Civic Museums website, the schedule for Scuola Grande dei Carmini is here, and the schedule for the Querini Stampalia Foundation can be found here.
- For both cards, you can add supplementary transportation pass options. The prices are the same as what you would pay if you bought the pass separately, but this way you have both attractions and transport in a single pass. Attention! You will still need to collect your ticket from the city's automatic machines by entering your reservation code (see also the article on transport in Venice).
- In addition to the Venezia Unica cards, there are various other tourist card or pass options issued by different tour operators or travel agencies. You can find them on Tiqets (apply code CIAO5 before finalizing the reservation for a 5% discount) or on GetYourGuide. If you choose one of these options, carefully read what is included and the terms and conditions.
San Marco City Pass
The San Marco City Pass is the cheapest City Pass option. It includes the following:
- Entry to the Doge's Palace (on the selected date, between 12:00 and 18:00 from April 1st to October 31st, and between 12:00 and 17:00 from November 1st to March 31st)
- Entry to the museums of St. Mark's Square (Correr Museum, Archaeological Museum, and Marciana Library)
- Access to Scuola Grande dei Carmini
- Access to the Querini Stampalia Foundation
- Optional: ACTV transport pass for vaporetto, buses, tram, and People Mover for 24h, 48h, 72h, or 7 days
The price for the San Marco City Pass is:
- Attractions only pass: €38.9
- Attractions + 24h transport pass: €63.9
- Attractions + 48h transport pass: €73.9
- Attractions + 72h transport pass: €83.9
- Attractions + 7-day transport pass: €103.9
Children under 6 years old have free entry.
Is this card worth it? Yes, financially it is worth it, provided you visit all the included attractions. If you were to buy the tickets separately, you would pay a total of €55 (€30 for the Doge's Palace and Museums of St. Mark's Square, €10 for Scuola Grande dei Carmini, and €15 for the Querini Stampalia Foundation).
Our advice: If this is your first city break in Venice, and if you are not particularly interested in the Scuola Grande dei Carmini or the Querini Stampalia Foundation, choose to buy a separate ticket for the Doge's Palace and the St. Mark's Museums (visited with a single ticket) and, in addition, visit more important landmarks such as St. Mark's Basilica, the Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, or the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute.
Venezia City Pass
The Venezia City Pass is another card that includes all Civic Museums in Venice (except for the Clock Tower) and all the churches of the Chorus Association. You can also add transport options to this pass.
The card includes the following:
- Entry to the Doge's Palace (on the selected date, between 12:00 and 18:00 from April 1st to October 31st, and between 12:00 and 17:00 from November 1st to March 31st)
- Entry to the Museums of St. Mark's Square (Correr Museum, Archaeological Museum, and Marciana Library)
- Entry to Ca' Rezzonico
- Entry to Ca' Pesaro
- Entry to the Natural History Museum
- Entry to Palazzo Mocenigo
- Entry to Casa Carlo Goldoni
- Entry to Fortuny Museum
- Entry to the Glass Museum on Murano Island
- Entry to the Lace Museum on Burano Island
- Entry to the Scuola Grande dei Carmini
- Access to the Querini Stampalia Foundation
- Optional: ACTV transport pass for vaporetto, buses, tram, and People Mover for 24h, 48h, 72h, or 7 days
The price for the Venezia City Pass is:
- Attractions only pass: €52.9
- Attractions + 24h transport pass: €77.9
- Attractions + 48h transport pass: €87.9
- Attractions + 72h transport pass: €97.9
- Attractions + 7-day transport pass: €117.9
Children under 6 years old have free entry.
This card is also advantageous (less so for the transportation part, where the pass price is the same as if you bought it separately), provided you visit as many attractions as possible. If you were to buy separate access to the attractions, you would pay €70 (€40 for the Museum Pass, which includes all the civic museums listed on the card, €10 for the Scuola Grande dei Carminia, and €15 for access to the Querini Stampalia Foundation).
